For Martín and Jesús's Colorado elopement, however, the mountains had something different in mind.
A Snowy Colorado Elopement
Instead of blue skies and expansive mountain views, their wedding day was filled with low clouds, fresh snowfall, and fog drifting through the peaks. At times, visibility was limited to just a few feet ahead of us. Then suddenly, the clouds would part and reveal glimpses of the surrounding mountains before disappearing again.
While Juniper Pass is known for its dramatic overlooks, the weather transformed the landscape into something entirely unique—quiet, intimate, and almost otherworldly.
Echo Lake in Winter
Just beyond Juniper Pass sits Echo Lake, one of the most popular stops along the Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway.
On Martín and Jesús's wedding day, the lake was partially hidden beneath low-hanging clouds, creating a scene that felt straight out of a dream. The shoreline would appear for a few moments before disappearing back into the fog, making every view feel fleeting and special.
The combination of fresh snow, evergreen trees, and mountain fog created some of my favorite moments from the entire day.
